My new digital book, The Brain and Emotional Intelligence: New Insights, fills a gap between my last books on social intelligence and on leadership, and my next book, which will not be out for a year or two.

The digital format solves a problem for me: how to make available a critical mass of new learning that does not have the full heft of a regular book. This digital book pulls together a wide range of findings into some fascinating aspects of emotional intelligence. This is not an exhaustive, technical review of scientific data – this is a work in progress that focuses on actionable findings, on new insights you can use:

The academic debate on whether such an entity as “emotional intelligence” that differs from personality and from IQ gets a powerful answer from brain research.

Where the brain’s ethical radar resides – it’s not where you think.

The neural dynamics of creativity tell us why putting an innovative puzzle aside can be part of the solution.

Why the brain circuitry for drive, persistence, and motivation holds the answer to disengagement, a workplace epidemic.

How to enhance the brain states underlying optimal performance.

The simple key to rapport, resonance, and interpersonal chemistry.

Brain 2.0: our brain on the web – and the neural blindspot that we ignore at our own risk.

Why woman are more empathic than men – and when they are not.

The dark side of emotion intelligence: The Bernie Madoff syndrome.

How to make learning in emotional intelligence last.

Enjoy!

Peter Senge and Daniel Goleman discuss ways to drive your organization's shift to sustainability using the right approach, tools, and vision

A conversation with Peter Senge, available exclusively from More Than Sound.

Sustainability is the biggest business opportunity in 50 years – it’s starting now, and the landscape will never be the same. Some managers clearly see their chance to be ahead of this curve. The single biggest challenge facing them now is creating alignment – explaining their vision in a compelling, motivational way – to get from the conceptual stage to critical action.

Leading the Necessary Revolution will help you seize this unprecedented opportunity.

Getting key decision-makers on board, and to take the next steps

Avoiding common errors of sustainability advocates

Finding and bridging gaps in mental models

Building hybrid synthesis with NGOs, governments, and other businesses

Peter Senge is a Senior Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also Founding Chair of the Society for Organizational Learning, a global community of corporations, researchers, and consultants committed to increase our capacity to collectively realize our highest aspirations and productively resolve our differences through the mutual development of people and institutions. The Journal of Business Strategy named him a “Strategist of the Century.” His books include the seminal The Fifth Discipline and his newest book on sustainability, The Necessary Revolution.

A primer on the demand for transparent products & processes, and how to evaluate ecological upgrades, featuring Dara O'Rourke and Gregory Norris

A conversation hosted by Daniel Goleman, available exclusively from More Than Sound.

Companies are under increasing pressure to evaluate and reconsider their sustainability on an unprecedented scale. Wal-Mart has moved to the forefront of this revolution in retail, and at their recent private brands meeting they gave all those in attendance this CD. Why? Because it’s the most informed and best available primer on the demand for transparent products and processes, and how to evaluate ecological upgrades. An easy to use must-listen for anyone trying to understand the radical shifts happening in everything we make and buy.
